Philippine Football heroes and key members of the Philippine Azkals, Phil and James Younghusband, seem to be following the footsteps of Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo, a globally renowned football player, has garnered several individual and team accolades, including the FIFA player of the year award and the Balon d’Or in 2008, multiple Barclays Premier League championships, a Champions League trophy, and just recently his first ever La Liga title.
Widely considered as one of the world’s finest and most influential footballers, Ronaldo is CLEAR Men’s global endorser. He is the perfect example of the CLEAR Man: supremely confident, powerful and dandruff-free.
In the Philippines, CLEAR has found a pair of Footballers who are just as formidable as the world-renowned Ronaldo: Phil and James Younghusband. Known for their role in reinvigorating the Philippine football scene, the Younghusband brothers are the newest additions to the CLEAR team.
Brand manager for CLEAR Philippines, John Imperial says “Phil and James Younghusband are a perfect fit with the CLEAR brand. They’re confident, at the top of their game and they perform at the highest level on and off the pitch.”
Phil and James were a part of the Philippine National Football team long before the Azkals fever hit mainstream. During the re-building phase of the Philippine football team, the brothers endured through the team’s financial problems, placing last in international tournaments, and the harsh words thrown at them by critics.
But, as evidenced through the Azkals’ success—finishing a historic third place in the most recent AFC Challenge Cup—persistence does pay off.
Like CLEAR, the Younghusbands have the same advocacy for football, and Philippine sports. Phil said, “My brother and I chose CLEAR because just like us, CLEAR is dedicated to help sports, especially football, grow in the Philippines.”
“That’s why we started The Younghusband Football Academy,” James added.
Established in January 2012, The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA) is a series of enhancement clinics for football skills around the Philippines. As former players for Chelsea FC, both brothers are equipped with UEFA coaching credentials enabling them to lead the clinics themselves.
The academy’s goals include (1) to acquire more football enthusiasts of all levels who wish to enhance their playing skills through the academy; (2): generate excitement for and interest in football; (3): develop talented Filipino footballers into world-class players; and lastly (4) to become the showcase and premier entity in developing football talent and league management.
As Phil and James bring their passion and high-performance game to CLEAR, Imperial says, “the Younghusbands’ partnership with CLEAR is an exciting endeavor. It’s a sign of big things to come for CLEAR and the local Football scene.”
